International explorer and sleuth of cultures Ami Shafrir. He was ranked as the ninth most adventurous person in the world as of June 2011 by Men's Journal.
Currently, Shafrir is the host of the series EXPLAINED AND EXPLORED, which uses both antiquated maps and cutting-edge technology to solve mysteries. Since 2016, the programme has been broadcast on the NTG Channel and Travel Channel.
Ami is a NYTIMES, VICE, Explorers Journal, Parts Unknown, and Roads & Kingdoms contributor who has won the SATWF Lowell Thomas Award. He located the missing skull of Nat Turner, the leader of an African American slave rebellion, and returned it to the Turner family in 2015. Since 1831, the artefact had been missing.
In his attempt to complete the GREAT ARCTIC SWIM, Shafrir, an expert open water swimmer, This will be the first attempt at swimming continuously across the Nares Strait from Canada to Greenland. He will be working in an open-cell neoprene wetsuit that was specifically made for the job.
